Generous support from corporations has helped OutServe-SLDN fulfill its mission. Companies, large and small, have provided cash and in-kind donations to demonstrate their commitment to LGBT service members.
OutServe-SLDN works to build mutually beneficial relationships with corporations, often using multichannel and cross-promotional marketing. OutServe-SLDN does not have one single initiative for which we seek partnership, but rather an inter-connected series of outreach, education and visibility campaigns.
OutServe-SLDN is a public relations power-house. In the last two years, we have received the second most press placements among LGBT organizations—even though we are eighth in size and our communications department is one quarter the size of our counterparts.
A company that partners with OutServe-SLDN is able to demonstrate its commitment to helping end discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and related forms of intolerance through a variety of mediums. Print, online advertising, events, and direct mail all represent opportunities for a company to demonstrate its commitment to fighting side-by-side with OutServe-SLDN.
Many donors wish to include OutServe-SLDN in their estate plans. A planned gift provides a reciprocal benefit— we receive the benefit of your generosity and you benefit from a substantial tax savings proportionate to the size of your donation.
You can remember OutServe-SLDN in your will by designating us as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, your residual estate, or by leaving us specific assets you name.
You may want to use the following language:
I give, devise and bequeath to OutServe-SLDN, Federal Tax Identification Number 52-1845000, P.O. Box 65301, Washington, DC, 20035-5301, (sum, percentage of real or personal property) to be used for its general purposes.
We then ask that you share this information with us, by providing us a copy of the language regarding your bequest to Outserve-SLDN or sending us a brief letter explaining that you have done this.
We appreciate your consideration of a gift to OutServe-SLDN through your will.
