Andy Blevins (he/him) is currently in his third year of Willamette University's JD/MBA joint-degree program, focusing his studies on military/veterans and civil rights law and nonprofit administration. In between classes, he serves as the law school's Student Bar Association Vice President (student body government), the Managing Editor of Oregon's first Social Justice and Equity Law Journal, an Executive Director for Willamette's Journal on International Law and Dispute Resolution, a Willamette Law Online Contributing Writer for the Oregon Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and is a member of the Moot Court Board. He was recently named the first runner-up for the National LGBT Bar Association's 2017 Student Leadership Award, the organization's highest award for law students, and the Atkinson Graduate School of Management's first Reaching Out MBA (ROMBA) Scholar.

Andy also works as a research associate with Military Disability Consulting, LLC, in Salem, OR. Prior to joining our legal and policy departments, he clerked in the child advocacy section of Oregon's Department of Justice; worked as First Lady Michelle Obama's scheduling and advance associate; and served as a Mission Continues Fellow with Junior Achievement, where he focused on educating youth throughout Denver on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Prior to law school, Andy received his B.A. in Writing, with an emphasis in secondary education, from the University of Colorado at Denver. He continued at the same university for post-graduate studies in nonprofit governance and administration.

Ever committed to community engagement, he is no stranger to the LGBTQ military community, having served in various capacities with OutServe-SLDN, the Military Partners and Families Coalition, and the Military Family Advisory Network. Outside of the military community, Andy has worked as the vice chairman for the commission on human rights and relations in Oregon's capital city, and an advocate for LGBTQ youth through DeMolay International, OneColorado, and the Special Olympics. He has delivered dozens of cultural competency sessions to professionals in the military, education, and government sectors, in an effort to help them better support their LGBTQ members, students, and constituencies.

In his free time, Andy likes to spend as much time as possible with his partner, Kai, and their fur-child, a dachshund and basset hound mix aptly named “Sir Reginald, the Earl of Puppydom.” Ever proud of his partner’s Army career, he can’t help but ALWAYS root for Navy!
