Introducing – Frugal Life, Happy Wife!
Hey you! Yeah, I am talking to you! You see that incredibly expensive, but oh so adorable, decoration you would just LOVE to have in your house? Or that crazy organization system that would just make your life so much easier? STOP! Don’t buy it! Follow me into the wonderful world of Frugal Life, Happy Wife!
Hi! My name is Jodi, I am a 44-year-old, happily married to the woman of my dreams, mother of three, grandmother of one, love to craft, organize, and clean; all on a budget kind of woman. What fun is cleaning, crafting, and organizing if you don’t have somebody to share it with? My wife, you ask? Yeah, she is full of testosterone and really does not have a single feminine bone in her body. So, I am here to share my organizing tips, cleaning tricks, and decorating ideas with you.
Let’s start this fun little blog with a talk about where to shop. Two words: Dollar Tree!
Yep, you heard me right (or… ummm… read me right). Not one single item is more than a single, solitary dollar!
If you have never checked out a Dollar Tree, you are missing out. They all carry pretty much the same staple items that you can go to any Dollar Tree for, but they do carry some different “specialty” items, different items depending on where you live (North vs. South) so, it is important to know where all the Dollar Trees are in your area. Need bulk items to make gifts or organize your house? You can shop Dollar Tree on-line and have your items shipped to your closest store for FREE! You can have them shipped to your house too, if you don’t mind paying shipping. I personally, NEVER pay shipping for ANYTHING. Especially if it is something I can get locally and am just too lazy to go out and get it! One important tidbit about the Dollar Tree, they DON’T DO REFUNDS. They will gladly replace an item for you, but they will not give you money back on anything.
My top three items to stay away from at the Dollar Tree?
- Shampoo / Conditioner
- Most toys (unless you don’t mind paying a buck for something that will break in a day)
- Hot pads / Oven mitts (unless you are using them for decoration only because they certainly won’t protect your hands)
These things are worth spending more than a dollar on and the quality is just not that great!
In this blog, everything we do, will be from the Dollar Tree. Occasionally, there will be an item thrown in there from another store, but it will all be very inexpensive! The most important thing to remember when in Dollar Tree is to think outside of the box! We will discover so many fun things to do!
I hope you will join me on my crazy, frugal ride. Any shopping and decorating I can do on a dime, makes the wife a very happy woman! Except for my small fetish of having to have EVERYTHING contained, somehow. 😊 But, we will talk about that later!
Be sure to check out my next blog, “Snow People” (no need to get all gender specific around here!!) and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
